Play.Casino: Scammers and Lowlives

Prior to reviewing this casino, we couldn’t help but wonder what’s hiding behind such a stupid, uninspiring name. It turns out, a typical group of scammers trying to sell themselves as “online gambling professionals” who created a casino to cater to players’ needs. The investigation revealed that this rogue casino’s goal was only to squeeze money out of their players and never pay out their winnings.

In addition, the Play.Casino was burdened with slow and non-payment issues and was notoriously unresponsive to player claims. However, the silver lining is that the casino no longer exists — at least not under the same name. Hopefully, their disappearance means they’ve moved away from the online gambling industry for good.

General Information

Play.Casino was an online casino operating under the license granted by the government of Curaçao. It tried to position itself as a reputable establishment, claiming they offered thousands of games, premium security, fast payouts, and a 24/7 support.

As it turns out, it was all for show. They were exposed as con artists only months after launch due to substantial player complaints. Funny enough, most people experienced issues with Play.Casino regarding non-payments and lack of any form of support. Hypocrisy at its finest.

And due to their rogue behavior, Play.Casino has cemented their spot among the blacklisted casinos due to unethical business practices. Turns out not paying players and poor customer service is never a good idea.

Today, Play.Casino is nowhere to be found. But we highly doubt the people behind it have “rolled up their sleeves” and started doing honest work.

First Impression

Play.Casino no longer exists under the same URL. Nowadays, the domain is held by an online casino review site catering specifically to the Canadian audience.

Since concrete information proved somewhat difficult to find, we can only assume that Play.Casino was shut down. However, whether they have entirely left the online gambling industry or are attempting to scam players under a different name remains unknown.

Back when the casino was still running, it appeared good at first glance. However, upon further inspection, you would get that eerie feeling that something wasn’t quite right. This was probably due to their wild, unsubstantiated claims.

Allegedly, the casino was launched by a group of online gambling professionals with “unparalleled experience in the industry.” As most people would’ve guessed, they never provided names of these “online gambling legends.”

Anyone versed in the art & science of copywriting would’ve immediately confirmed that Play.Casino used popular strategies and formulas to craft website content that generates hype, without providing any relevant information.

Then, there’s the issue with the casino’s generic name that lacks a shred of creativity. If nothing else, it indicates that the group running the casino had next-to-no interest in branding. Strange, considering that players are the lifeblood of every online casino. Since Play.Casino’s management wasn’t keen on developing their brand, one can’t help but wonder what their true motives were.

Although not incriminating evidence per se, this would have warranted a further inspection of the casino. In hindsight, we now know that it was a rogue pit looking to swindle their players.

Bonuses

The casino offered a total of four deposit bonuses as their welcome package. On your first deposit, you would get a matching bonus. This was followed by a 50% bonus on the 2nd and the 3rd deposit. And the most generous one was saved for last, at 135% bonus on the 4th deposit.

The wagering requirements were set at 50x bonus for all four welcome bonuses. Not unheard of, but certainly on the high-end as far as WRs go. It doesn’t help that the list of restricted slots for bonus play was way too long and included most of the player-favorites. What slightly salvages the situation is the fact that the bonuses weren’t sticky. In other words, you could have actually withdrawn them after meeting the wagering requirements.

The casino also offered a no-deposit bonus, with a rollover of 60x playthrough. The maximum withdrawal for this bonus was $50, which is on the low side. Still, it’s was a freebie, so we can’t really complain much here.

As far as rogue casinos go, Play.Casino’s bonus Terms and Conditions weren’t terrible. However, the problems became apparent during cashout. They would make up all types of excuses to deny payment or indefinitely prolong your request until you gave up.

Games and Software

Play.Casino provided a fairly decent variety of games in their online casino. All of them were from known and trusted software manufacturers, such as SoftSwiss, Booming Games, Betsoft, GameArt, and NextGen Gaming.

Although they claimed to offer thousands of games to suit everyone’s interests, yet again their claims proved false. Their game library never exceeded 600 casino games, though that number isn’t any less impressive. However, this was another exaggeration on their part, which further undermined their credibility.

However, they didn’t seem to be running pirated or cheating software, but they didn’t need to. If anything, it made more sense to provide fun, fair, and exciting games in order to lure in unsuspecting players.

And whether players won or lost was of little concern to them since they never intended to pay out the winnings in the first place. The moment someone deposited at Play.Casino, the scammers would have effectively completed their objective.

User Experience

During the time Play.Casino was operational, there have been numerous complaints regarding their devilishly long withdrawal process and non-payment policy. Reading through just a handful of comments, it become apparent that players were outraged by how their issues were addressed.

The number one issue, of course, was that a large portion of players never received their winnings. There have been instances where players had over €1,000 stripped from their accounts overnight. Play.Casino never even tried to justify this fraudulent activity. Instead, they opted for “silence” as their line of defense.

The runner-up in the major issues category was Play.Casino’s atrocious customer support. They would often take their sweet time to reply, and even then, the information they provided was mostly gibberish. It wasn’t unusual for issues to drag out for months without any signs from Play.Casino that they were working on resolving them.

Naturally, the players got sick & tired of Play.Casino’s shady ways, made peace with the fact they would never receive their money and moved on.

Pros and Cons

Is shut down
CONS

Our Verdict

We’re glad that Play.Casino is no more. Everything about this casino suggested it was rogue to the bone, starting from it’s stupid name. Play.Casino, seriously? Just imagine a company meeting where people are brainstorming the name. Someone genuinely had to think Play.Casino was good, and others had to have approved it. Ridiculous.

The casino software was the only even remotely good thing about Play.Casino. They did offer an impressive collection of online slots and table games, probably as a way of attracting unsuspecting victims.

However, we highly doubt anyone found joy in playing the games they offered, not after realizing that the casino was reluctant to pay out the winnings. The online gambling industry is certainly better off without Play.Casino. It’s one less den of thieves we have to worry about.

We can only hope that this review gave you a better idea of what warning signs to look for and will help you avoid similar dodgy casinos in the future. If you intend to wager real money online, learn everything you can about the casino first.
