Thebes Casino is a great example of a poorly operated casino. The fact that they have obtained their gambling license in Curaçao isn’t as alarming as the fact that they are located in Costa Rica. We didn’t want to be slaves to prejudice, so we’ve conducted thorough research of the Thebes Casino only to realize that all of our fears were justified. This casino is guilty of stalling payouts and not responding to players’ complaints. There were also several situations when their representatives were rude and behaved unprofessionally, and we are going to address all these issues in our review.

First Impressions

When we first visited Thebes Casino’s website, we were pleasantly surprised by their homepage layout. There was an admirable selection of various games that covered most of the screen. You can see different game categories listed on the left side of the screen. So everything looked sleek and clear at first glance. However, we still couldn’t find any contact options listed on the homepage, so we scrolled down to the foot of the page where we found the “Contact us “section.

However, the thing we didn’t like and that will certainly count as a downside is the fact that you can contact the casino only via e-mail given on the page. There was no sign of a live chat or a phone number available to their customers. So all of their praises and cliches about “The customers’ needs first” were just false promises. Generally, we tend to be extra cautious when we come across gambling sites bursting with self-praise. Respectable casinos always do their best to offer various high-quality customer service options, but this is not the case with Thebes Casino.

Banking and Cashout

As far as the deposit and payment options are concerned, the Thebes Casino offers some of the most common ways of depositing and withdrawing money. There are all the classic ones available, such as Bank transfer, or via various credit cards, accompanied by a selection of multiple e-wallets. The minimum deposit required for all the payment methods is $10, while the minimum withdrawal depends on the payment method you decide to use. It ranges from $50 if you are using Ecopayz to $500 if you’re opting for payments via the bank transfer.

Furthermore, the withdrawal process doesn’t seem to be as efficient as players would like it to be. According to the terms and conditions on their site, players have to go through a verification process that could take up to five working days and then add another three to five business days for your winnings to get processed if you are getting paid via one of the classic methods. As for people who have e-wallets, Thebes Casino promises instant payout. However, lengthy withdrawals that had often led to the cancelation of players’ payments were one of the main reasons why Thebes Casino landed on our blacklist. However, we will definitely address this issue more thoroughly later.

Unprofessional and Rude Customer Service

In addition, another sore spot of this rouge casino is their customer service. There were many customers’ complaints that it was unresponsive, unprofessional, or that the agents were rude and avoided answering certain questions. Moreover, there were many stories that involve problematic communication between the customers and the agents, and we will give you just one as an example of a bad business practice

In one scenario, a player claimed a bonus and started playing. And when the playthrough seemed certain, and he wanted to find out whether he has to fulfill some additional requirements before a cashout, he addressed the live chat agent who was actually rude and sarcastic and who didn’t provide any valuable information. You can probably imagine what happened next. The player in question never saw any of his winnings since “he failed to play through the wagering requirement.”

What is more, there were many other similar accounts that depicted how lousy and unprofessional this casino’s customer support was. Unfortunately, this kind of communication doesn’t end with live chat agents. According to another story, a reputable watchdog site representative seems to have had an interesting verbal duel with one of the Thebes Casino managers. Allegedly, the lady didn’t agree with the site’s recommendation to avoid this casino, so she thought it would be a great idea to start a bitter argument by leaving bad mouth comments and threats on a YouTube channel. This casino representative has just proven how subpar and unsafe this place is and just further backed up the watchdog site’s recommendation to avoid them.

Games and Software Providers

When we first visited the Thebes Casino, the selection of various slot games appeared to be quite generous and representative. They offer various online slot machines, as well as a range of table games with live dealers, such as various versions of Baccarat and Roulette. In addition, you can also find different classic table games and Video Poker. However, bear in mind that the Thebes Casino is a mixture of a sportsbook and an online casino, so you can also bet on sports events here. And as far as the software providers are concerned, they have chosen to collaborate with several of them. Microgaming is one of the most reputable ones, while a few others are also Pragmatic Play (former Top Games), Habanero, Vivo Live, etc.

It is likely that the players who are just starting out their online gambling adventure wouldn’t see anything wrong with this selection. However, the experienced players would steer clear from it right away. Pragmatic Play have been involved in an ugly scandal related to a malfunction of a particular online slot. Even though the casino compensated the players affected by the software malfunction, the ugly story still seems to be haunting Pragmatic Play to this day.

Annoyingly Prolonged Withdrawals

One of the burning issues that landed Thebes Casino on our blacklist was that it took them too long to complete the players’ withdrawal processes and pay them out. According to a player’s bad experience, the casino should have paid him out a total of $2500. At first, they started paying the winnings partially, $500 a week. Everything went smoothly for the first couple of weeks until the casino completely stopped paying and became totally unresponsive. Moreover, their representatives that the player talked to about this problem started stalling and promising that everything would end “this week.” Of course, the user in question never saw his money, and thus filed a complaint to the previously mentioned watchdog site that had conducted their research and finally blacklisted Thebes Casino.

In addition to these rather severe issues, players also often had negative comments about the casino’s shady and complicated bonus terms and conditions that made the available bonuses almost impossible to play through.

And when you add lousy and misleading customer service and a software provider that had to clear their name after their software malfunction incident to this pile of negative features, it should be clear why the Thebes Casino ended up on our list of blacklisted casinos.

Good Sides vs. Bad Sides

As hard as we tried, we honestly couldn’t list a single advantage this casino had to offer its players, but let’s state it like this:

Good Sides

  • The only good thing we have to say about the Thebes Casino is that they are on every blacklist there is on the Net and that you can easily avoid being scammed if you invest some time and do some research before you start gambling.

Bad Sides

  • Rude and unprofessional communication with customers. It seems that people from the Thebes Casino don’t believe in rules of polite and professional conversation with their players. Although you can clearly see on their site that they are “committed to the needs and demands of their customers,”  the reality is quite the opposite. So if you need an answer and all you get is rudeness and sarcasm from the customer support agent or the casino representative, you should run away because you’re not at a good place.
  • Prolonged withdrawals that often led to canceled payments. This is another serious problem that not only casts a shadow over the casino’s reputation but also does damage to the entire online gambling scene. When you try to deny paying someone something that they rightfully won, you are betraying your customer’s trust, which is an unforgivable crime in the online gambling business.

Our Verdict

There is not much left to say about the Thebes Casino. If you come across this gambling site and pay close attention, you can learn a lot about the way these scam casinos operate. First of all, you should avoid the tempting offers of deposit bonuses you might get from a live agent that often pops up uninvited. However, once you really need to get the valuable information or an answer, the same live agent will act unprofessionally. For all these reasons, you should not waste your time at the Thebes online casino.
